Lock down your New Year goals

  01/01/2019

How are things going with your New Year Resolutions? Still checking in at the gym as often as you can?
Next time you’re there, take a second look at the gym equipment. Because the simple tech you use to adjust and lock the gym machines is doing its own hard work keeping planes in the air, safeguarding machinery workers, and supporting wheelchair users.

Indexing plungers - such as those produced by EHC supplier Nexus - are really useful little products with a huge range of applications.
This humble component has a simple principle behind it - a spring is used to provide force to push the plunger pin into a hole, locking parts into place. The operator uses a ring or pull-button to retract the pin, so that adjustments can be made before the plunger is locked into place once more. It’s great for alignment and adjusting, and for work holding purposes.

Also known as cam action indexing plungers, these versatile products can be used to keep machine guard doors safely closed, to adjust the height of tables and platforms, and as part of the mechanism of wheelchairs.
As the maker of the largest variety of control knobs available in the world, it’s unsurprising that EHC has a range of indexing plungers to serve the most demanding of customers.
Servicing markets including aviation, the military, industry, agriculture, and horticulture, EHC provides a variety of plungers with custom options. Made in high-impact resistant black thermoplastic, they can be provided with stainless steel insert, and custom colours to give visual cues to the user.
•    Plunger with lifting ring
Index plungers with lift rings have a nickel plated housing with a stainless steel pin. This is an economically priced device, not for precision indexing, with a long beveled pin which easily inserts and locks securely into position.
•    Plunger with mounting plate
Available in lock-out and non lock-out models, the nose is bevelled for easy insertion into the unit. A long pin securely fixes the position to prevent unwanted movement.
•    Retracting plunger with pin groove
This plunge has a 180 degree groove to retract and securely hold the pin in the ‘up’ position. For comfort, a handle sleeve with an easy-grip surface can be added.
•    Retractable precision plunger
For precise positioning, this component has a rotary indexing head. To adjust, pull up the knob and rotate 90 degrees - and the adjuster will stay in this position until returned to the down position by the user.
•    Low-profile plunger
For small and narrow spaces, EHC produce a plunger with reduced thread and body height. It comes in either rotating (90 degrees) or ‘pull-to-retract’ models, and has a reinforced handle.

All come in inch and metric sizes, and can be configured to your needs by Nexus experts.
